It was 17 minutes to 2 P.M. in the afternoon and we were putting our big heads together to come up with a suitable hashtag for the 11th edition of Nullcon. We looked like we were fighting but we were, really, trying to come up with something that would get you hooked on to Nullcon 2020. I write this sitting on my office table, which should tell you how excited I am to let you in on the secret of #Vaishyanath.
Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, there lived a religious woman. She did her prayers on time and wanted nothing more than being able to stay with her lord. This lord as we come to know is Shiva. Long story short, she pleases Shiva and she is granted an abode by her God.
Now, Gods have different incarnations, at least they do in the Hindu mythology. This particular incarnation of Shiva was known as Vaishyanath – loosely translating to The Protector.
You are probably thinking how is this related to Nullcon or cybersecurity or our entire cause? Patience, grasshopper! I am getting to it.
Shiva is the destroyer of evil and paves the way for a new beginning. However, destruction and creation go hand in hand and one cannot exist without the other. He is the protector of the ones in distress. But, aren’t we all in distress due to some reason or the other? What is the purpose of Nullcon? To raise cyber awareness. To provide a platform for people to come together who can share their knowledge on cyber security and learn from others.
And that’s how we came to the conclusion to dedicate this year to Vaishyanath – The Protector. He is the 11th incarnation of Shiva, and also the inspiration for Nullcon 11th edition. This Nullcon 2020, let’s pledge to protect ourselves and the ones who will follow in our footsteps, to share our collective knowledge, and deter cyberattacks.
